More Des..

Oh! And did I mention that Desmond likes balls too?!

He's just a go-to kind of guy. If there's something that moves, he's after it! (see previous blog;)

He likes regular balls or even better, something that makes noise or lights up. Right now he's got  a couple of golf balls in the exercise yard. He's very happy to fetch them if you want to play with him. And if he's out there without a human partner to throw for him, he's very happy to play by himself; pawing at it, grabbing it in his mouth or chasing it downhill.

I can't wait to give him this new ball and see how he likes it!

Why we don't have clean water....

Desmond loves water! Desmond loves to paw in the water, which makes the water move, splash and swirl. And when the water moves, Desmond paws at it more. And guess what happens when he paws at it? Yes, it moves, which causes Des to got at it again. Do you see a cycle here?

I love these things!

I love the new dog bed/blankets I got! Thanks to my friend (Karen) for turning me on to them. 

They’re a thin fleece, about 50 x 60”.  You can fold them up, then the dogs have a bit of cushion to sleep on or they can nest around  and fix it to their liking! They're great to throw on the couch, take a couple in the car, cover crates when crate training puppies or whatever! I love these things!

They come in all kinds of colors and designs, very washable and they’re under $3 each! We found these at Winco.

Aren't they cool? Or maybe I should say groovy or radical....far out man!

And then I went to Wal-Mart and found more!

They're great! Washable, soft, colorful and inexpensive...did I tell you how much I love these things?

(Ok, so I don't usually have a couch on my porch:P but we unexpectedly got a new/used couch and had to move this old one out fast. So I told my husband to just stick it on the porch for now. The big dogs are sure enjoying it:D)

Oil slick!

 

Travis~ "Um,mom....the puppies knocked over a gallon of water and have been running through it." Me~ "Uh, Trav, that wasn't water, that was oil!"

The puppies have play time; outside, inside and in the garage. So this morning I let them play in the garage. They have toys, a litter box and things to climb under and run around. There's a wood stove so it's cozy and warm and the radio is playing for some background noise. And it's right off our laundry room and kitchen so I can check on them frequently. Apparently, not frequently enough this morning though...

Well, it's also where I keep the dog food, horse food and my tack. I have an old mare. She'll be 28 years old in April and she needs extra pampering to keep her in good weight. So twice a day I soak alfalfa cubes in hot water, add oil (for the extra fat) and her grain and feed it to her. 

I guess the puppies thought the bit of oil running down the side of the gallon jug tasted good, so they licked and work on it until they got the lid off. That happened yesterday. Yes; I've learned my lesson..don't leave a jug of oil with no lid on it the reach of three lively, curious puppies!

So Travis went out the door and thought they had found a jug of water and spilled it. Oh,.. I wish!

So now I have an oil slick to clean up. Right now, I have litter/shavings sprinkled on top trying to soak up the majority of it.

And three really greasy puppies to bathe!
